$IGNAL$ 025: OUT OF THE FEED

Photographs you can take home, stone with a previous life, and AI beyond the demo screen. Three things worth stepping out for, from Queens to White Plains.
MEET YOUR NEXT WALL OBSESSION
5 Boro Foto Fest brings photographs, books and zines to Culture Lab LIC this Sunday, October 25, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.
The organizers say they’ve screened the exhibited work for generative AI use. You can also meet the photographers, ask how the work was made, and leave with something considerably more satisfying than another screenshot.
A TABLE WITH A FORMER ADDRESS
At Emma Scully Gallery, Rafael Prieto’s The Future of the Past begins with architectural fragments rescued from a Tribeca renovation.
Four works incorporate the original stone; others reinterpret its forms in new materials. Furniture and sculpture emerge from details that might otherwise have disappeared into a dumpster. A good reason to look twice at what a renovation throws away.
On view through December 12.

AI HAS LEFT THE SCREEN
ArtsWestchester’s World Builders brings together 15 artists exploring AI, generative technology and surveillance capitalism through animation, ceramics, woven work and more.
That range is the draw: familiar technology questions become things you can encounter in a room. Go for the AI conversation; stay to see what happens when ceramics and tapestry join it.
The public reception is Saturday, October 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. in White Plains.
